Eye Examinations
A 30+ minute comprehensive assessment, start to finish.
Why are eye tests important?
Eye tests are about more than your sight. Your eyes can be a window into the health of your whole body. Regular examinations help us:
- Assess your vision and determine whether any correction is needed.
- Detect early signs of sight-threatening conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration.
- Pick up early signs of broader health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure and vascular disease.
Regular testing, at the intervals your optometrist recommends, means changes in your vision or eye health are picked up as early as possible, and the sooner a change is found, the sooner we can help you manage it.

Who should get their eyes tested?
The short answer: everyone aged 3 and over. But some groups need more frequent testing than others.
- Children aged 3+: first test before starting school, then every two years. Vision problems that go undetected can affect learning and development.
- Adults every 2 years: Optometry Australia recommends two-yearly testing for healthy adults with no risk factors.
- Over 65, annually: risk of glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts increases significantly with age.
- People with diabetes: annual exams are essential. Diabetic eye disease is a leading cause of vision loss in working-age adults.
- Family history of glaucoma: if a parent or sibling has glaucoma, your risk is around ten times higher. Annual screening is recommended.
- Anyone with vision changes: blurry vision, difficulty reading, or sudden visual disturbances are always worth checking promptly.

In every exam
Eye conditions
During your eye examination, we can identify eye conditions which may be causing the symptoms you are experiencing.
Once diagnosed, we are able to provide you a solution to reduce not only your symptoms, but the deterioration of your precious eyesight.
Macular degeneration
Caused by abnormal blood vessels which leak into the macula. A combination of vitamins and minerals may reduce the disease progression.
Retinal problems
There are many retinal diseases and conditions which can be repaired, however, if the retina detaches and is not treated promptly, vision loss or blindness may occur.
Glaucoma
A group of eye conditions which cause gradual vision loss. Damage is often caused by abnormally high pressure in your eye.
Cataracts
Usually caused from age or damage within the lens, however, cataracts can be congenital. Treatable with surgery where your natural lens is replaced with an artificial lens.
Diabetes
Can be recognised by damaged blood vessels in the eye. Symptoms include blurry vision, black spots, and poor colour perception. Diabetes can also cause blindness.

The Rodenstock DNEye® scanner.
We use the Rodenstock DNEye® scanner, an advanced 3D eye measurement device that captures thousands of data points to build a precise digital model of each eye. This goes well beyond standard testing.
Those measurements are used to make lenses matched to your individual eye, which can help in demanding conditions such as driving at night or working at a screen for long stretches.
